Stall Counter - Stationary Vehicles
Stall Counter uses cloud-based Artificial Intelligence to count stationary vehicles with time-lapse images. Cameras can be used in surface lots, garages, on-street, or any area where a vehicle may park, such as pick-up-drop-off locations, loading zones, specialty spaces, and more.
Higher is Better. Cameras are mounted to see the parking area from above, such as a light pole, nearby rooftop, garage ceiling, etc. Generally, the higher it can be mounted, the more vehicles it will count.
Time Lapse Images. Stall Counter uses time-lapse images every 2-3 minutes (configurable) and uses artificial intelligence in the cloud to count cars in real-time. If a vehicle departs and a new vehicle arrives in its place, a new timer is started.
Lines are Optional. Stall Counter does not require stalls to be delineated. It can count vehicles in hash-marked areas, drive lanes, gravel lots, curbside, and any area that your parking operation wants to enforce, guide parkers, or collect parking metrics.
Stall Counts. The Stall Counter camera tracks vehicles in individual parking stalls (spaces), or in a zone (area or group of stalls), or a combination of both. Stall counts are perfect for specialty spaces like EV, ADA, loading, reserved… anywhere you want to have detailed space-by-space counts. This translates to dwell time, turnover, occupancy, and utilization to the stall level.
Multi-Stall Counts. Stall Counter cameras can also watch groups of stalls with separate tracking for each group. Set up multiple tracking areas for a single camera, with different rules for each.
Complete Integration. Stall Counter technology is seamlessly integrated into the Mistall Platform. Camera images are recorded in the dashboard for historical viewing and reporting. Whether it’s real-time data or historical reporting, Stall Counter is a complete solution.
Camera Power
Solar Power
Our most popular option, when regular power is not available (or too expensive) we turn to the sun for an off-grid camera solution.
The Mistall Stall Counter v3 is our most modern camera that brings a smaller form factor, built in visor, upgraded optics (8MP resolution), better battery management and lower power consumption.
This off-grid design greatly simplifies installation without the need for an electrician or IT support. Stall Counter can be mounted on a light pole, post, wall, rooftop, or any location where it can get sun and the camera can see parked vehicles.
AC Power / Mains Power / PoE
When AC power is available, we recommend utilizing off-the-shelf security cameras or webcams for 24×7 operation. Stall Counter works with most fixed-image video security cameras. Mistall can provide the camera – we offer several network-ready brands, or you can supply your own.
Many security cameras offer built-in features that assist with vehicle detection, such as active infrared illumination for better night imaging, better distance zoom, vandal and weather resistance, and a wider range of operating temperatures.
The Mistall Stall Counter technology captures a single frame from the security camera every minute (configurable) and processes the image in our cloud-based Artificial Intelligence to count vehicles. Parking operations gain from all the benefits of security cameras, as well as gaining vehicle occupancy counts, and space availability data.
Intermittent Power
In some parking lots power is available from the poles, but only when the lights are on. Mistall offers a hybrid battery-operated Stall Counter that automatically switches to battery when the lights turn off.
Communication Options
Mistall Stall Counter cameras are designed to be network agnostic. They work with just about any network technology.
For off-grid cameras (solar) the most popular option is cellular-communications. Mistall provides a worldwide modem with global 4G connectivity. Customers can provide their own SIM cards if they have a preferred cellular provider or contract.
Cameras also work over Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and mesh networks. Mistall can assist in designing an outdoor mesh network for cameras. Even VPN options are available. Contact Mistall for more information.
Benefits of Stall Counter
Stall Counter offers unique benefits over other counting technologies.
- Inexpensive. Mounted effectively a camera can easily see more than 100 parking spaces. And if you already have security cameras you might be able to start counting with no additional hardware.
- Seeing is Believing. Images are uploaded to the Mistall Platform in real-time and are immediately viewable by parking operators, for an immediate visible audit of live or historical parking activity.
- Annotation. AI provides image annotation to flag vehicles as being counted, along with their dwell-time. AI confidence thresholds are configurable and visible in the annotation.
- Adaptive System. Mistall is a learning system, building from real images from customers to train the AI and improve accuracy.
- Easy Installation. Most Stall Counter installations are self-installed. For solar applications, access to the mounting location is all that is needed; Mistall provides everything else. Cameras can be relocated as desired, moving to different poles to collect data in different locations.
- Multiple Lots. Stall Counter scales out with no limit to the number of cameras or lots.
- Mixed Solutions. Zone and Stall Counters can be associated to a single Lot, with Zone Counter covering large areas, and Stall Counter tracking sub-areas like EV, Accessible, Reserved, or time-limited spaces.
- Rules and Notifications. Individual stalls (spaces), as well as groups of stall or non-stall areas, can be identified and tracked separately. Set parking rules based on type, such as how long a vehicle can be parked in that space. It’s common to time-limit parking in loading zones, EV spaces, and specialty areas; Stall Counter will notify you of overtime parkers.
- No Drift. Perimeter-based counting solutions add/subtract a vehicle from the current count of an area. Errors in counts will “drift” and require a periodic manual reset. With Stall Counter there’s a complete count of all visible spaces, every time, eliminating drift and manual counts.
- Count what you can’t see. Estimate a lot’s overall occupancy by counting only a portion of the lot using extrapolation algorithms. Stall Counter fills in the gaps based on the occupancy of nearby parking spaces.
